I hate to admit it, but it’s back to the drawing board for now

I made a mistake with the banana chips. Sorry about that.
i hate to admit it, but it's back to the drawing board for now

Had a look at my nut butter’s list of ingredients the last couple of days.

Despite my sarcastic, non-branding rebellion on this website, I do actually care about what you put into your body.

Not because I’m trying to save the planet.

That’s not possible, I’m happy to report.

But I’d like you to be healthy, and would like to be part of your health journey.

Because that’s the second commandment.

Therefore, I have to confess something here.

At closer look, it seems the banana chips are NOT as nutritious as I thought they were.

It’s NOT just dried banana dipped in honey.

There are a bunch of additives I seemed to have ignored, or missed.

For that reason, I cannot sell this product as a nutritious alternative to sugar-loaded nut butters or peanut butters.

I’ve added the ingredients to the Banana Honey Bomb product page under the Nutrition heading.

I’m not pulling the product, because that would be like KFC pulling whatever it is they sell, off the market, when the market actually wants it. (I, for one, would cry if the Colonel’s masterpiece gets pulled from the market.)

What I am doing, is playing open cards here.

Next steps?

I want the ingredients list to be shorter than your pinky toe, so I’m looking at ways to create my own banana chips.

That would necessitate a freeze drier, or similar tool, which costs an insane amount of cash.

I guess the next best thing is to source freeze-dried bananas and add pure, raw honey, something I’ve already sourced from a Jeffreys Bay bee farmer.

This will prolly boost the price of the product, and unlike what branding “gurus” tell me, I don’t believe in NOT taking price into consideration.

If something is too expensive, it’s inaccessible to some people, and ironically, despite the irritating itch I get from even hearing the woke term, inclusivity, I would like a wide demographic enjoying my product.

As always, updates on my progress to becoming a nut butter force majeure in central Jeffreys Bay will be shared on this blog.
