I needed photos taken of Lush Yummy nut butter.
There’s a JBay local who knows her thing when it comes to product photography, but since this is a nut butter start-up in pre-alpha stages, spending money on photos are not high up on the list of priorities.
Good photos are of utmost importance; I’m not arguing against that.
But when it comes to deciding between spending money on a shoot or a grinder, the grinder’s gonna win.
But I needed pics, and my photo-taking abilities are kind of meh, to say the least.
So I asked a friend of mine in Riversdal if she’d be willing to help a brutha out if I sent her a jar of nut butter.
Then came the plot twist.
I had to drive down to Cape Town in any case, through Riversdal, so I was able to drop off the nut butter at their place.
Given the parameters of the shoot, what she produced was nothing short of incredible.
Firstly, I’m not paying for this.
Okay, so it’s like a skill trade, because I help her brother with his meat website, from where he sells seriously good meat, but I consider it an unfair trade.
Her photos far outweigh the work I’ve produced for her brother. (Her product pics are at the you-will-get-emotional-when-you-see-these-photos-even-if-you-take-pics-for-Woolworths level.)
Secondly, she’s got two toddlers that keep her occupied.
Thirdly, she has a handsome husband to keep in shape.
Fourthly, she was subjected to my hideous logo.
Can you imagine having to endure Comic Sans for a WHOLE photo shoot?
I can’t even…
So I consider myself utterly blessed to call these folks my friends, and would like to endorse her right here, right now.
Her name is Lindy, and you can book her through her photography website.
